  Another marriage bites the dust because of JW beliefs

  i know very few people who have been successfully married where 1 spouse is a witness and the other is not.

  i know there are a few examples on this board.. a couple that i know irl have split after nearly 25 years of marriage because of the stupid shunning shit.

  one of their 3 children got df'd 6 months ago and that is when everything fell apart apparently.

  i approached an elder last week, and asked him if the society was against higher education because of the comments brought out in the drama.

  he said the society disapproves of higher education.. .

  he privately told me he disagrees with the view the society has on education - he said it should be a personal choice.. .

  Sport and JWs!!!

  just wondering what your experiences are.

  were you "encouraged" not to devote time to personal exercise, gym or sport in general?

  i remember this one time co gave a talk how "we do not need sport" then he proceeded to explain how walking up the stairs in field service was exercise enough for our legs, then how we didn't need any stretching exercise as making gestures while explaining the bible verses would do the job, and so on.

  When I was about 10 I went to the local park with a neighbourhood friend. He was on a softball team and the team was practicing that day. When I was a kid I enjoyed playing softball and was not too bad of a ball player. The couch tried to encourage my brother and myself to play but I would not allow myself to just enjoy the moment as of the Jdub guilt feelings. It is sad of the rubbed childhood of many of young Jdub youths.

  I remember one sister being discouraged from getting massages ... others sis's thought it was immoral to have a man touching you

  That reminds me of the time I met a massage therapist that my ex was working with. I was telling this therapist about my bad back and she said that I should try some massage therapy. Well my ex had a fit as if I wanted to have sex with the woman. As in some of my other posts, you know my ex was the biggest prude going. Unfortunately I could have used a massage but there was no way as long as I was married to that bag.

  as of this posting, battlestar galactica will premere in 19 hours and 15 minutes on the sci fi channel!!

  allow me to express my excitement!

  but still, arghhhhh i wish it was here already!!

  I was only giving you a bad time. I recall hearing about George (I will do anything for a buck) Lucas suing the producers of BSG but I didn't know what the out come was. I recall the original series with Lorne Greene but was never a big fan of it. I was more into Star Trek. Enjoy your show.

  I recommend for you to go to a book store and buy a book about co-dependency. You need to build your self esteem up and know that you don't need anyone else's approval to be a better person. It took me 40 years to learn this lesson and I am now a much happier person. The Jdub mentality will never let you explore and nurture that independent side of you. Don't think in terms that this is your last chance as you are still very young and there are many more "soul mates" out there for you, one's that will accept you for who you are and not try to change you.

  Did you ever want to just 'FOREST GUMP' it out of the Kingdom Hall?

  the last few weeks of meetings for me were pure hell.

  i got a cold sweat sometimes and just sat there fantasizing about running forest gump style out of the kingdom hall.

  i was getting "encouraged" to comment more too and i just physically could not audibly promote that crap in public anymore.

  I got so good at this during my final years at home I think I only heard 5 % of what was actually said during the meetings.

  You probably got just as much from the meeting as anyone else that sat through the whole two hour yawn fest.

  Good advise from everyone here. Believe me I am speaking from 40 years of experience. Once you are baptized there is no going back. They will have you hooked and then from that point on you can never be yourself. There will be no going back and you will not be able to question anything.

  I lived in a loveless marriage for 20+ years to Jdub that I could never do anything good enough for her. It was always, you must spend more time in the field service, why aren't you a MS yet, why don't you go to more meetings? No sex unless it is approved by the local elders. Can't have recreational fun as this is not becoming of a "Christian". No friends unless they are other Jdubs etc. That is what you are looking forward to. If this still sounds appealing for you go for it but after don't say we didn't warn you.
